The Quietlands

North of the Ashen Wastes, where the Long Quiet came down hardest. Take the North Road at the top of the world map, or the Long Road from Emberhold. Anyone can go, at any level, but its creatures are level 30-32.

Towns

  • Lastpost, the city in the middle, kept by the Guild of Notice-Posters: banker, smith, provisioner, the Notice Board, the Pledge Hall and the Pit.
  • Oathkeep, the town of the Crownless
  • Saltgrey, the town of the Undermarket
  • Lanternfall, the town of the Compact

Each faction town has a bank, a provisioner, a seed seller and a house to rent. Rival towns' people won't serve you if you're pledged against them, and their guards attack you. See Factions and Houses and farming.

Guild notices

Daily notices at the Guild Notice Board in Lastpost pay gold and Guild Marks:

  • The Grey Cull: The Quiet's creatures are thick on every road out of Lastpost. Cull fifteen of them, anywhere in the Quietlands. The Guild pays in coin, today, which is a first. (600 gold, 12 Marks)
  • Supplies for Lastpost: Lastpost runs on firewood, ore and herbs, and it ran out of all three twice this week. Gather twenty of anything the Quietlands grows or hides. (500 gold, 10 Marks)
  • The Harvest Notice: Ten herbs or vegetables for the Guild kitchen, any kind, from anywhere: the allotments' carrots will do nicely. Bring them to the board. (500 gold, 15 Marks)

Spend Marks with Posting-Master Greaves: Supreme Health Potion, Guild Commendation, The Guild's banner (house), Carrot Seeds.

Restoration projects

The whole server pitches in materials and gold to rebuild a place, and it changes for everyone. Every donation pays Marks, and every name goes on the board.

  • The Ice-Fishers' Hamlet (Whitehush): The ice-fishers left when the Quiet came down the Mere. Timber for the huts, coldsteel for the augers, frostlilies for the soup and gold for everything else. Every name goes on the board.
  • The Faded Hamlet (Stillmoor): Stillmoor's hamlet faded when the last lamp went out and nobody came to relight it. Willow for the roofs, gold ore for the lamp brass, stonebloom for the window boxes, and gold for the Guild's paperwork.

The Pit

An arena in the heart of Lastpost, level 30 and up. PvP is on inside. If you fall, your bag and gold drop on the floor for anyone to take; your worn gear and locked items stay with you. You're warned at the gate, and the crowd will have opinions.
